Curiox Biosystems announces that C-FREE® has been officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. No. 8,025,256), effective November 11, 2025.
C-FREE® technology enables centrifuge-free cell washing and liquid exchange by allowing robotic pipetting systems to remove and replace supernatant while suspended cells remain undisturbed. This approach supports gentler cell handling, improved reproducibility, and integration with automated liquid-handling platforms.
C-FREE® technology powers Curiox’s Pluto platform, including Pluto Code, Pluto Workstation, and Pluto ALPHA, which are designed to automate antibody cocktailing, cell staining workflows, and liquid exchange processes.
While centrifugation remains widely used for cell preparation, it can introduce variability and limit automation. C-FREE® provides an alternative workflow designed for modern robotic laboratories.
The trademark registration provides legal protection for the C-FREE® name in the United States, reinforcing Curiox’s continued development of centrifuge-free solutions for research and biopharmaceutical workflows.
The ® designation applies to U.S. Trademark applications in other regions are currently pending.
